I’ve been sinking deeper into my love for nature photography over the past 5 years, and I’ve written “wish lists” of the shots I’m still hoping to get. The American Bald Eagle was at the top of the list for a long time.

The point of Fauxto Friday was a way for me to showcase the ways I use Photoshop to edit and retouch photos in order to remove objects, swap out backgrounds, restore damaged prints or, in the case of the featured photo of this post, create something arty and new.

Another Friday, another beautiful bird fauxto! I’ve spoken before of the magical backyard I’m fortunate to have. I fired off a few snaps, knowing in the back of my mind that this photo was going to need a little help to make it look the way I was seeing it with my naked eye.

This is our beautiful cat Simba, but we call her Mama Kitty. We weren’t even looking to adopt another pet when she literally found us. Five years ago, we were standing on the deck enjoying the spring weather when we heard this strange scratching noise. Suddenly, a gray cat appeared on the deck…and promptly strolled through the open door into the house, as if she’d always lived here.
