This is our beautiful cat Simba, but we call her Mama Kitty. We weren't even looking to adopt another pet when she literally found us. Five years ago, we were standing on the deck enjoying the spring weather when we heard this strange scratching noise. Suddenly, a gray cat appeared on the deck...and promptly strolled through the open door into the house, as if she'd always lived here.
"Try Something New" was actually the theme for one of the contests I entered. During the arctic weather we had last month, I saw a beautiful video reposted a hundred times on Instagram showing a soap bubble crystallizing in the cold until it froze over. Finally! A reason to be happy about the super deep freeze of winter!
Every single day I find something beautiful, unique or interesting that urges me to whip my camera out. But I don't always capture the exact image as I'm seeing it with my naked eye. Most of the time I'm too excited and in too much of a hurry to properly adjust the settings on my camera before clicking away.
I walked over to the last two drooping sunflowers, smaller than the others that had grown to 9 feet. I had to bend over to see into the shorter flowers' faces. Just as I began to curse the cucumber beetles, I realized I was not alone…the sunflower had a visitor, one that looked as if it had come from another galaxy.
I crouched low to the ground trying to steady my hand as I inched my camera lens closer to the flower. After just a few shots, I was struck with the notion to "take a break." Odd, considering I'd only just started trying to get a nice close-up picture of the lovely white clover blooms dotting our yard.
Me : "What am I supposed to be doing with my life? There are too many options. I don't know which way to go. Help ...
