Lincoln's Home

The house that would become the home of the Lincoln family was built in 1839. The Lincolns purchased and moved into the house in May 1844. The Lincolns continued to live in the house for 17 years until departing for the White House in February 1861. (The Lincoln Home is the first and only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned.) Although they'd planned to return, the Lincolns never came back to live in their house on the corner of Eighth and Jackson Streets. Today, the restored house reflects the Lincoln Home of 1860.
