No Touch Tuesday - "Be Still My Heart"

“When everything is moving and shifting, the only way to counteract chaos is stillness.
When things feel extraordinary, strive for ordinary. When the surface is wavy, dive deeper for quieter waters.”

– Kristin Armstrong

This week’s No-Touch Tuesday feature comes from the deck off the back of my house. I love having bird visitors come to eat from the various feeders. It gives me a chance to watch them closely through the glass door. But in the warmer months when I’m able to sit outside on the deck, they can be a little more skittish…like this Goldfinch who wasn’t quite sure what to make of me sitting nearby so he tried to hide behind the feeder.
My hope is that after spending enough time sitting near the feeders, these birds will become so used to me being there that they’ll trust me enough to land on my hand!
However, the hummingbirds are different story. Maybe it’s because they’re able to move and fly away so quickly, but they are much less shy and much more eager to assess the human in their midst. They certainly don’t mind drinking from their feeder when I’m less than two feet away!
